Creech Orchard

Terry Creech is a second generation commercial apple grower in Harlan. One of their orchards sits at the highest point on Black Mountain, 4,100 feet above sea level, and has a climate similar to northern Pennsylvania and New York, where many apples are grown. Creech Orchard is known for growing a type of Honey Crisp apple that they sell at regional groceries. A former coal miner, Creech says apple growing is demanding work, but he loves seeing the sky above his head everyday.
