Mammoth Cave Transplants

Janet and David Dennison have owned Mammoth Cave Transplants in Brownsville, KY since 1994.

When approaching retirement they started seeking out more ways to earn money on the farm and started growing tobacco transplants for local farmers.

A transplant is a plant that is germinated by one farmer for optimized health, and then bought and planted by another farmer.

When people came to buy the tobacco transplants they expressed an interest in vegetable transplants as well, giving the Dennisons an idea.

They installed greenhouses and started offering vegetables and flowers. From there, business boomed. MC Transplants now has 14 greenhouses and several employees, as well as being part of the Kentucky Proud program .

They were able to stop growing tobacco and now focus on flowers and vegetable transplants.

As a KY Farm Bureau Certified Roadside Market, Mammoth Cave Transplants allows people to come directly to the farm and pick out plants, but they also do custom growing jobs for landscapers and farmers.
